A Day in the Life
Our Global Diabetes Capability Center in Pune is expanding to serve more people living with diabetes globally. Our state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to transforming diabetes management through innovative solutions and Technologies that reduce the burden of living with diabetes.
The accountant – Cash Application is responsible for processing and reconciling incoming payments, ensuring they are accurately applied to customer accounts in SAP. This role supports the efficient operation of the cash application process within the Record to Report (R2R) team and works closely with the Senior Accountant. Collaboration with Treasury, Procure to Pay (P2P), Employee Expense Management, and Intercompany teams is essential for accurate and timely cash flow management.

Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Process daily incoming payments, ensuring accurate and timely application to customer accounts in SAP.
Investigate and resolve unapplied or misapplied payments, escalating complex issues to the Senior Accountant as needed.
Assist with daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations of accounts receivable and cash balances.
Work closely with Treasury to support bank reconciliations and the identification of incoming funds.
Collaborate with P2P, Employee Expense Management, and Intercompany teams to support outgoing payments and intercompany transactions.
Contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities by preparing relevant reports and reconciliations.
Maintain compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards.
Support process improvements and automation initiatives within the cash application function.
Assist with documentation and provide support during internal and external audits.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date process documentation and standard operating procedures.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2-4 years’ experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or accounting, preferably in a shared service center environment.
Working knowledge of SAP (FI module preferred).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
