As a member of the Brain Modulation Research and Technology team at Medtronic’s Neuromodulation, you will work on cutting-edge innovation. As a Scientist II, you will:
- Identify novel concepts that would provide substantial differentiation to existing Medtronic Neuromodulation products.
- Design and execute pre-clinical and pre-market clinical studies to evaluate scientific, clinical, and technical feasibility of applying new therapy and technology concepts to current products and new innovations.
- Maintain substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles in neuromodulation, machine learning, and data analytics.
- Contribute to the scientific literature via peer-reviewed manuscripts and conference abstracts.
- Participate in the development of intellectual property.
- Collaborate with physician partners to identify unmet needs and refine concepts that are in the process of being evaluated.
- Work with upstream marketing, product development R&D, regulatory, medical education, and clinical functions to support the new concepts and features.

To Be Successful in This Role
- Pre-clinical or Clinical Research Experience: Experience in the biomedical field is crucial for understanding the complexities of neuromodulation.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in Matlab, Python, or similar programming languages for data analysis and algorithm development.
- Signal Processing Experience: Knowledge of signal processing techniques to enhance research outcomes.
- AI/ML Principles: Basic understanding and experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning to support innovative solutions.
- Passion for Innovation: A strong desire to challenge the status quo and explore new ideas in the field of neuromodulation.
- Collaborative Mindset: Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment and engage with various stakeholders, including physicians and marketing teams.
- Effective Communicator: Strong verbal and written communication skills to share insights and findings with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Must Have (Minimum Requirements)

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$87,200.00 - $130,800.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
