We are seeking a talented Principal Process Engineer to join our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the process development and launch of a new medical device product that will shape the future of patient care.
As a Principal Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in advancing our manufacturing processes and ensuring the successful commercialization of our next-generation medical devices. You will leverage your expertise in advanced manufacturing technologies, process development, and equipment design to deliver robust, scalable, and efficient processes. This position is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to tackle complex engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and optimization of manufacturing processes, including process characterization, Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in advanced manufacturing technologies such as laser processing, nitinol processing, vision inspection, chemical processing, and robotics.
Develop equipment specifications, oversee equipment design, and execute Installation Qualification (IQ) and calibration activities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of manufacturing processes into production.
Design and implement innovative manufacturing solutions to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability.
Actively participate in hands-on process development, troubleshooting, and validation activities.
Stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Responsibilities may also include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Provides technical engineering support new and existing products.
Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques as well as production yields for existing products.
Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications and technology target specifications.
Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules.
Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.
May develop and conduct statistical analysis or recommend additions to document work.
Leads the innovation, development and/or optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations.
This can include scouting and feasibility work, material selection, process and equipment selection, tooling / fixture and equipment installation and assessment of inputs, outputs and alignment to requirements.
Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques including the measurement systems.
Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
Minimum Requirements

Advanced degree in Engineering or related field.
Experience in the medical device industry or other regulated environments.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously and learn quickly.
Exceptional collaboration and communication skills for working in a cross-functional team environment.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$125,600.00 - $188,400.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
