A Day in the Life
The Director of Mitral & Tricuspid Training & Education will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mitral and tricuspid therapies by leading the development and execution of a global training strategy that empowers field teams and internal stakeholders. This individual will not only ensure the safe and effective adoption of novel mitral and tricuspid therapies but will also drive innovation in how learning is delivered and sustained in the field.
This role requires a leader who can think strategically, build scalable programs, and foster a culture of continuous learning and clinical excellence. The Director will collaborate closely with global field leadership, therapy development teams, and Medtronic’s broader training ecosystem to align learning initiatives with business growth and patient impact. Candidates must be prepared to travel up to 30% of the time to support field-based initiatives and global collaboration.
This position will lead and build a global team and reports into the General Manager, transcatheter mitral & tricuspid therapies.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Recruit, develop, and manage a high-performing global training team, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute a global training strategy aligned with business goals, clinical outcomes, and therapy adoption objectives.
- Design and implement field training and certification programs for both mitral and tricuspid therapies to ensure safe and effective procedures.
- Create and enable new hire training programs that accelerate onboarding and clinical readiness for internal employees.
- Deliver clinical and technical content using innovative digital methods, including blended, synchronous, and asynchronous learning formats.
- Design hands-on, immersive learning experiences grounded in adult learning principles and modern educational tools.
- Support global team members in the consistent and effective execution of training initiatives across diverse geographies.
- Create processes for continuous improvement by monitoring clinical outcomes, participant evaluations, and expert feedback to refine training programs.
- Collaborate across a broad group of stakeholders—including HCPs, senior leadership (e.g., Chief Medical Officer), clinical research, medical education, therapy development, regulatory, legal, quality, marketing, and physician relations—to ensure alignment and success.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on training impact, scalability, and innovation, while leveraging emerging technologies (e.g., AR/VR, mobile learning) to enhance field learning and engagement.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements- To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident in your applicant profile:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Life Sciences, Education, Business, or a clinical field (e.g., Nursing, Biomedical Engineering) strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of combined experience in two or more of the following areas: medical education, adult education and training, medical device sales or marketing, clinical practice, or other relevant healthcare functions.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Proven experience launching novel medical devices and/or building new therapy areas, ideally in structural heart or interventional cardiology.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing global training strategies and scalable education programs.
- Proven expertise in instructional design and applying adult learning principles to training development.
- Strong understanding of structural heart disease states and therapies or the ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge.
- Proven success in leading high-performing teams and managing training execution across global, multicultural environments.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% globally to support field training, team development, and stakeholder engagement.

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc. Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$171,200.00 - $256,800.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
