The Senior Product Manager is responsible for leading all activities related to post-market product lifecycle management (PLM), including strategy development, execution oversight, and cross-functional alignment. This role ensures that products continue to meet the needs of the Operating Unit (OU) throughout their commercial lifecycle, from launch through obsolescence.
The ideal candidate will possess broad cross-functional expertise and strong business acumen, providing leadership across product development, quality, regulatory, finance, operations, and marketing. The Sr. Product Manager will serve as a key liaison within the OU and across sibling Operating Units, driving product continuity, portfolio health, and lifecycle strategy alignment.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Strategic Leadership
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive product lifecycle sustainment strategies across the portfolio.
Collaborate with functional stakeholders to integrate lifecycle considerations from New Product Introduction (NPI) through product end-of-life.
Influence commercialization and obsolescence strategies based on market dynamics and operational readiness.
Serve as the primary contact for identifying, assessing, and resolving product lifecycle issues, including quality-related concerns.
Cross-Functional Alignment & Execution
Advocate for and secure resources and funding necessary to sustain a commercially viable and competitive product portfolio.
Align key Operating Unit functions on planning, execution, budget management, and issue resolution in support of lifecycle goals.
Collaborate with other OUs and external partners to ensure platform products serve cross-business needs and long-term sustainability.
Partner with Integrated Business Planning (IBP) teams to ensure lifecycle inputs are embedded in short- and long-term planning processes.
Collaborate closely with NPI teams to ensure lifecycle strategies are aligned and integrated into early-stage development and launch plans.
Execution Oversight & Risk Management
Monitor progress of lifecycle sustainment plans, identify risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Manage lifecycle-related project spend, ensuring alignment with financial targets and organizational priorities.
Stakeholder Communication & Governance
Maintain effective communication with OU leadership, cross-functional team members, and functional heads (VPs and Directors) to ensure alignment and transparency.
Establish clear, ongoing communications across all stakeholders—internal and external—on matters of product availability, quality, and continuity.
Develop and lead regular portfolio health reviews and governance mechanisms tailored to various stakeholder groups, including senior leadership.
Create and maintain operational processes that embed lifecycle management at both the inception and conclusion of the NPI process, ensuring long-term product viability is considered at every stage.

Must Have (Minimum Requirements)

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a scientific discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
10 years of experience in a highly regulated environment, preferably within the medical device industry is desired.
5 years of experience in Instrument Engineering, Healthcare IT, Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, Operations, or Quality.
5+ years of hands-on experience in medical device product development is desired.
Proficiency with enterprise business systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, and Product Data Management tools (e.g., Enovia, MRCS, Agile).
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred.
Proven business acumen with strong strategic planning capabilities.
5+ years of project management experience with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated strengths in data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Self-starter with a high degree of initiative and effective influence management skills.
Proven track record of successfully driving projects to completion on time and within scope.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$170,400.00 - $255,600.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
