A Day in the Life
This role is responsible for managing and executing strategic convention programs for one or more Medtronic business sectors. The position involves planning and overseeing medium to large-scale or complex exhibits, ensuring alignment with business goals, brand standards, and customer needs. You will serve as a strategic advisor and team leader, collaborating across functions and partnering with external vendors and associations to drive successful event outcomes.

This role will require up to 50% travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

Convention Strategy & Leadership
- Develop, implement, and evaluate convention strategies for one or more Medtronic business units.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and consultant on convention best practices, industry standards, and Medtronic’s strategic positioning.
- Provide strategic guidance and direction to other convention planners managing specific business sectors.
- Ability to Travel
Customer & Staff Experience
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of Medtronic products, strategies, and business updates to effectively support convention goals.
- Identify and coordinate appropriate booth staffing in alignment with marketing goals and audience engagement needs.
Budget & Logistics Oversight
- Develop and manage convention budgets and forecasts, ensuring financial compliance and efficiency.
- Guide attendance analysis and room block planning based on historical data and business needs.
Training & Team Leadership
- Act as a process lead, providing training, coaching, and direction to team members, internal clients, and vendors.
- Share expertise on systems, tools, and processes to enhance team and project performance.
Internal & External Communication
- Collaborate with communications teams on messaging, media development, convention materials, and on-site services.
- Represent Medtronic in industry organizations and advisory committees to influence policies and drive industry change.
Brand & Compliance Management
- Ensure all convention activities are aligned with Medtronic branding guidelines and support the company’s image as a global leader in medical technology.
- Monitor compliance with industry regulations including AdvaMed, corporate policies (BCS), state laws, and association rules.
Execution & Project Management
- Lead the execution of complex convention projects, overseeing all aspects from strategy to implementation.
- Partner with external vendors and associations to ensure smooth delivery of convention programs.
- Organize on-site programs, such as pre-convention and daily debrief meetings, to optimize team effectiveness and objectives.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with business units to align convention investments with objectives and Medtronic’s overall strategy.
- Lead collaborative planning sessions with marketing and communications teams to identify opportunities, assess costs, and align messaging.
- Provide input into annual marketing planning and prioritization of convention activities.
Must Have:
Bachelors degree with a minimum of 7+ years of experience in convention/meeting planning, and/or project management or Advanced degree with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in convention/meeting planning, and/or project management.
Nice to Have: (Preferred Qualifications)
- Bachelors degree in marketing communications or business

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):101,600 - 152,400The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
