  • Leads in a matrixed organization, collaborates with system leaders, and participates in system-wide groups (leadership teams, sub-committees, and/or councils) to identify and develop the PeaceHealth Medical Group operational, financial, and clinical strategies.
  • Supports the goals and objectives of the PeaceHealth Medical Group Division Leads for Primary Care, Medical and Surgical specialties, by leading community/network caregivers to achieve desired clinical performance and patient experience outcomes.
  • Works closely with leaders to identify regional priorities, implement regional initiatives, and to lead and ensure seamless PHMG integration with the community and networks of care. 
  • Monitors and manages day-to-day operational performance, including the leadership of PHMG and fosters/ensures an environment of respect and collaboration.

 

Based in beautiful Eugene, Oregon, PeaceHealth is actively recruiting for a Vice President of Operations located at Sacred Heart Medical Center- University District to join our Oregon executive team. Sacred Heart Medical Center facility located in the University District is an acute care hospital with units that focus on Behavioral Health, Acute Rehabilitation, medical care for elderly patients, Home Care and Hospice services.  It is an integral part of the community, serving the University of Oregon students. A partnership with community and civic leaders in the Eugene community is essential.

 

A successful Vice President of Operations must have the following qualifications…

  • Master Degree preferred.
  • Ten years increasingly responsible and successful leadership experience in a healthcare system required, to include three years progressive leadership experience in a large multi-specialty medical group.
  • ACHE or MGMA certification is desired.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads in a matrix-ed organization, collaborates with system leaders, and participates in system-wide groups (leadership teams, sub-committees, and/or councils) to identify and develop the PHMG operational, financial, and clinical strategies.  May chair or co-chair a sub-committee and/or council. 
  • Supports the goals and objectives of the PHMG Division Leads for Primary Care, Medical and Surgical specialties, by leading community/network caregivers to achieve desired clinical performance and patient experience outcomes.
  • Works closely with the VP/Medical Director, Division Chiefs, and leaders and caregivers to identify regional priorities, implement regional initiatives, and to lead and ensure seamless PHMG integration with the community and networks of care. 
  • Monitors and manages day-to-day operational performance, including the leadership of PHMG directors, managers and individual contributors. Fosters/ensures an environment of respect and collaboration. Inspires leaders and caregivers by interpreting mission and vision of PHMG. 
  • Is jointly accountable with their dyad partner for community/network clinical and operational performance, regional P&L, quality, patient satisfaction, provider and caregiver engagement and other relevant performance measures.
  • Understands caregivers needs for tools, technology and business intelligence.  Acts as a spokesperson on behalf of community caregivers.  Facilitates the effective implementation in the community of any advances in tools, technology or intelligence.
  • Engages and inspires caregivers in the region.  Earns the support and trust of colleagues across all specialties.  Integrates system-wide strategy with the network of care and the day-to-day realities of caregivers in the region.
  • Serves as a change agent in the development of a culture of compassion, safety, quality, performance and exceptional service.  Seeks and insists upon a culture of measurable outcomes and accountability.
  • Maintains an awareness of federal, state and city regulations and accreditation standards to ensure compliance.  Leads caregivers in assigned areas to comply with policy and regulatory measures.
  • Facilitates resolution of conflicts, grievances, or highly charged situations as needed.
  • Informs system acquisition and merger strategy.  Leads the integration of acquired groups into the community.
  • Oversees the administration of the PHMG Uniform Provider Compensation Program for assigned communities as delegated by the Board Compensation Sub-Committee.  Ensures, and is accountable for compliance with the PHMG Uniform Compensation Plan. 
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree required or a combination of education and professional expierence that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience is required in health care, to inlcude a minimum of 3 years progressive leadership experience in a large multi-specialty medical group.
  • Expereince with successful implementation of evidence based protocols into clinical practice.
  • Experience in multi-site, multi-specialty medical groups and integration delivery system.


OTHER SKILLS: 

  • Ability to deliver financial results for areas of accountability.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize issues and develop strategic iniatives and solutions. 
  • Ability to navigate a matrixed organization and develop relationship with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Must possess exceptionally creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong change management skills and ability to execute transformational change initiatives.
  • Strong patient focus orientation with service delivery requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to lead through vision, instpiration and common sense.
  • Stong understanding of principals of patient-centered care, pahysican compensation systems, medical technology including electronic medical records and quality/service improvement startegies.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when dealing with sensitive medical-legal and professional subjects.
  • Union knowledge and Lean Six SigmaTraining desired.
