Experience a higher degree of patient care at HCA Florida Largo Hospital , part of the HCA West and Central Florida hospital system. Our 455-bed acute care hospital is located on two campuses-in mid-Pinellas County on the West Coast of Florida, providing medical care for the residents of Largo, and the nearby cities of Clearwater, Seminole, St. Petersburg and the Gulf Beach communities. We are the only area hospital with all private patient rooms.
The HCA Florida Largo Hospital Transplant Center's goal is to provide compassionate transplant services from initial evaluation to surgery recovery. We are approved through the United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS) to provide heart transplant, kidney transplant and liver transplant services. We are proud to be the first hospital in Florida to perform robotic nephrectomies for living organ donors. Our Transplant Center can accept any transplant candidate's transfer while keeping their same placement on the waiting list for organs.
We opened in spring 2015 as the first transplant program in Pinellas County, Florida. Since then, our multidisciplinary team has worked together to provide you with a high standard of transplant care and resources. Our multidisciplinary team is made up of skilled, transplant-trained:
  • Surgeons and Transplant Physicians
  • Infectious Disease Specialists
  • Anesthesiologists
  • Transplant Pharmacists
  • Nurse Coordinators
  • Social Workers
  • Dieticians
  • Financial Coordinators
The Transplant Pharmacist is a key member on the transplant team and is responsible for:
  1. Evaluates patients prior to transplant listing, participating in transplant selection and quality assurance committees
  2. Participates in multidisciplinary rounds
  3. Manages medication therapies including immunosuppression, infectious diseases and other transplant related issues
  4. Provides pre and post-transplant related clinical services
  5. Represents the pharmacy as the liaison on the transplant team
  6. Participates in educational programs including (but not limited to) hosting Pharmacy Residents for Transplant rotations

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science or Pharm D degree in Pharmacy from College of Pharmacy.
  • Completion of PGY-2 pharmacy residency in transplant pharmacy from an ASHP accredited resident program preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in an acute care hospital setting with significant exposure to the transplant or critical care environment.
  • Current FL Pharmacist license.
