Scope of Position:

• Develop, deliver, and manage ongoing training and skills development for operators

• Develop and administer a training program that prepares the operations workforce to safely and effectively perform the various tasks on the production floor.

• Design an onboarding program to effectively integrate new union employees into the plant.

• Manage the activity of the Trainers in the plant.

• This position reports directly to the Human Resource Manager. The position will also be connected with trainers, operations and engineering for consistent training standards and validation.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Develops an understanding of processes and tasks to best equip manufacturing workforce and facilitate cross training strategy

• Builds effective relationships with employees that will maximize an employee’s likeliness to be successful; accomplished through strong manufacturing floor presence and ongoing engagement with front line supervisors and coordinators

• Works with the Operations Manager and Department Heads to develop plans to best address long range business strategies to achieve goals relative to safety, quality, cost, and service

• Design, plan, organize, or direct orientation and training programs for employees

• Optimize through redesign or refresh existing training materials, procedures, etc. to improve overall retention, safety behaviors, and application. Leverage new methods, and industry best practices

• Develop or implement training programs that directly impact measures like: productivity, efficiency, recycling, lean principles, and environmental impacts.

• Development of Cross-Training Plan to address bottlenecks, resourcing and optimize overall staffing levels.

• Redesign certification & re-certification model to maintain skills and competencies.

• Conducts training review meetings

• Manages and track training qualifications

• Schedule and manages refresher training

• Identifies training gaps and connects needs with available external and internal resources.

• Proactively work with managers to communicate available training and development opportunities and resources to employees

• Give training, administer and grade tests, provide feedback on tests scores

• Maintain the training data base, training records, and training matrices

• Carry out operator certification and rectification activities

• Evaluation of courses, trainers and trainees


Required Education:

• Bachelor's Degree, Education discipline preferred


Required Years and Area of Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years in training or development


Required Skills:

• Strong people skills. Able to interact at all levels within the organization

• Demonstrated process development for repeatable results and sustained improvement

• Able to initiate and manage multiple tasks and projects as necessary

• Microsoft Office, Outlook

• Ability to develop strategies & vision to compliment plant goals and objectives to achieve business needs through people
