We are seeking a Microbiology Technician I for our Biologics Testing Solutions site located in Malvern. 


The responsibilities of this role as Microbiology Technician I will be specific to the Mycoplasma division of the Microbiology department.  Daily activities and responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Performance of broth and agar based mycoplasma testing in compliance with compendial guidances which includes the inoculation of agar and broth cultures as well as observations of broth and agar cultures.
  • Performance of indicator cell culture based mycoplasma testing in compliance with compendial guidances which includes the preparation, fixation, staining and observation of slides containing indicator cells
  • Mycoplasma media preparation (includes working with penicillin)
  • Growth promotion testing of prepared mycoplasma media
  • Titer determination of mycoplasma positive control strains
  • Cleaning and monitoring equipment utilized in mycoplasma testing.


The performance of the aforementioned duties will require learning proper aseptic handling and technique, adherence to cGMPs and ability to readily follow and comply with standard operating procedures, standard test methods, protocols, etc.


The following are minimum requirements related to the Microbiology Technician I position.


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent in biology or a related discipline
  • Experience: 0 to 1 year of related experience in a biological laboratory. Knowledge of basic Microbiology techniques required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Certification/Licensure: None
  • Other: Knowledge of cGMPS or regulatory affairs pertaining to the pharmaceutical and biological industries is a plus. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills to maintain communication across biological functional groups. Able to communicate effectively (oral and written) in a small group or one on one setting. Basic Microsoft Office skills are a plus.
