Job Summary

Under the direction of the Radiology Manager, directs the day-to-day operations for the Division of Ultrasound.

Job Responsibilities

1. In partnership with the Radiology Manager, oversees key Ultrasound processes which ensure the timeliness of order response, exam completing, and results reporting.

  • Projects staffing workload requirements for technical area.
  • Assists in hiring, evaluating, scheduling and disciplining personnel as needed. Supervises the orientation of new employees to include: equipment, department and hospital policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Monitors division expenditures while maintaining and supporting the Radiology PYXIS System to stay within budgetary constraints.
  • Approves and monitors patient scheduling to insure flow and safety 100% of the time.
  • Directs activities of technical staff to maintain integrity and efficiency of the Radiology Information System (IDXrad).
  • Inventories, orders and receives division supplies to maintain operations within budgetary constraints.
  • Develops, implements, and enforces hospital and department policies and procedures.

 

2. In partnership with the Radiology Manager, oversees the clinical aspects of the division.

  • Performs clinical work as dictated by patient volumes and staffing levels. (See US Staff Technologist Job Description)
  • Devises and maintains QA protocols and criteria for the US Division.
  • Insures and supervises coverage at the KOP Radiology site and HUP-Ultrasound(FetalUS).

 

3. Responsible to attend meetings/special assignments that are directly related to this position in Radiology.

  • Involved with specific committees(e.g. Quality Assurance, Trauma Committee, etc.)
  • Prepares and delivers lectures and/or publications relating to pediatric US within and outside the institution.
  • Holds monthly staff meetings for US personnel.

 

4. Responsible for maintaining the continuing education required for this position.

  • Attend Infection Control lecture-mandatory
  • Attend Fire & Safety lecture-mandatory

              Obtains 12 CE credits/year.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

Required Education and Experience

A minimum of five years experience in the field of US. A minimum of three years supervisory experience required.

Additional Technical Requirements

Knowledge of all forms of Ultrasound imaging

Knowledge of Radiology Information System

Provides Family Centered Care

Integrated knowledge and assessment of child and family(Age Specific Competency)

Able to handle multiple tasks

Ability to handle confidential materials and matters

Strong organizational skills

Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
