**Covenant Health is seeking a Full Time, Day Shift Supervisor Pharmacy with the Pharmacy A01 Department at Covenant Medical Center.**

**Job Summary:**

The Pharmacy Supervisor is a licensed pharmacist who, in coordination with the Pharmacy Manager, is responsible for overseeing the daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training, and developing of caregivers. The Pharmacy Supervisor promotes and supports a collaborative team approach in providing care and is responsible for ensuring the safe and appropriate use of medications and department operations that meet all regulatory compliance requirements. Fulfillment of this responsibility is achieved through the provision of pharmaceutical care services whose components include drug information, drug distribution, and clinical pharmacy services with knowledge of age-specific criteria from neonates through geriatrics (where applicable). The Pharmacy Supervisor supports/manages pharmacy technologies and systems within the department in collaboration with informatics and medication safety.

**Essential Function:**

+ Ensures that PSJH mission and core values are at the forefront of all activities. Promotes a safe environment of care and complies with all safety regulations through employee orientation, ongoing training, policy development, and appropriate documentation. Provides leadership for the designated team to promote and maintain high employee morale, engagement, and commitment to the organization during times of both stability and great change in healthcare.

+ Provides supervision, direction, and support for pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and/or technicians, and supervises daily operational and clinical pharmacy processes. Manages department schedules for technicians and/or pharmacists and adjusts staff schedules as needed to maintain department services. Restructures workload within the department in response to unanticipated changes in hospital census or staff schedules to ensure work assigned is prioritized appropriately. Assesses quality of clinical and operational services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with and assists with development of departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols. Monitors and ensures pharmacy technologies and information systems are operating as required.

+ Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills providing communication of pertinent pharmacy issues to all relevant stakeholders. Establishes effective working relationships with medical staff, pharmacy staff, nursing staff, peer professionals, department, and organizational leaders for the provision of high quality pharmaceutical care. Demonstrates effective listening and mediation skills and utilizes appropriate resources when indicated to facilitate conflict resolution and problem solving.

+ Provides support and leadership for staff that promotes an environment in which pharmacy staff can work cooperatively toward department goals and objectives. Demonstrates ability to identify and prioritize work to be performed by pharmacy staff in a manner that is in compliance with regulatory standards and consistent with organizational values. Seeks input from staff to identify opportunities to improve care or services. Demonstrates willingness to perform tasks generally designated to be done by others, when the need arises. Serves as a mentor, role-model and resource for staff.

+ Responsible for addressing human resource needs or questions and serves as a liaison to System/Region human resource services for department staff. Assists in the orientation of new employees and serves as a resource for staff regarding policies and procedures to be sure they are followed accurately and consistently. Uses coaching and/or retraining on standards as early interventions and helps technicians and pharmacists to advance professionally. Demonstrates sensitivity to the morale of pharmacy staff and regularly communicates with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure support and appropriate interventions are implemented as needed. Manages employee time cards, monitors employee overtime and absenteeism and takes appropriate action to address problems or issues. Coordinates with the Pharmacy Manager to initiate corrective action if employee performance management procedures are required. Participates in candidate interviews and annual performance and development reviews.

+ Maintains and promotes positive, open and honest relationships with customers (patients and family, providers, employees, and visitors). Provides high quality service to all customers; focuses on understanding customer needs and follows through. Demonstrates a positive professional image, performs responsibilities in a professional manner; demonstrates flexibility in the provision of patient care/service and utilizes a collaborative approach with co-workers. Implements care/services that recognize age, diversity, and specific needs/concerns of customers served. Demonstrates respect for the different cultures, racial diversity, personalities, and capabilities of co-workers and patients.

+ Builds and supports a culture of medication safety; implements and enforces all medication safety practices and policies approved by the organization to ensure patients are protected from harm. Works with medical staff, nursing staff, and other peer-professionals to insure safe and effective use of medications. Encourages and supports a just-culture and principles of High-Reliability to help create a safer environment for patients, visitors, employees and providers. Encourages and supports timely reporting of all unusual occurrences, including near-miss events. Working with medication safety, collects data and compiles reports to identify opportunities to improve safety in the medication management process. Participates with other pharmacy leaders in presenting the pharmacy on safety related meetings/huddles

+ Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all pharmacy related regulatory compliance aspects such as the Joint Commission (JC), CMS standards, State and Federal laws, HRSA if applicable, and all applicable PSJH policies and assures compliance with them. Develops policies and procedures which support the safe, efficient, and effective provision of pharmaceutical care; ensures proper control and accountability of medications, and implements departmental performance improvement activities. Ensures that all employees are appropriately licensed and the competence of staff is assessed, maintained, and demonstrated in a timely manner. Ensures department personnel follow policies regarding confidentiality of PHI and HIPPA regulations.

+ Assures appropriate staffing , equipment, and supplies are available for the delivery of pharmacy services. Provides annual capital, expense, and personnel budget input to the Pharmacy Manager to support the budget process. Assists in the monitoring and implementation of the department budget. Identifies cost-savings opportunities and promotes cost containment initiatives appropriate to the department.

+ Under the guidance of the department pharmacy manager, assists in the development and implementation of role specific education, training and competencies for pharmacy or non pharmacy staff. Ensues that pharmacy staff required education, training and competencies are maintained. Where applicable serves as a preceptor for residents, students and interns.

+ Performs other duties as assigned including staffing

**Minimum Position Requeirements**

_Education:_

+ Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy.

_Experience:_

+ 4 years Applicable pharmacy Practice.

_Licenses and Certifications:_

+ Pharmacist license in the state of practice

**Preferred Position Qualifications:**

+ PharmD Pharmacy.

+ 2 years Leadership experience
