The Supervisor, Language Services collaborates with community caregivers to facilitate care to the underserved by facilitating language communication and remediating disparities and barriers to healthcare. Oversees the language interpretation services.



  1. Coordinates and evaluates the organization’s language service line for patients.  Identifies limited English proficient populations and their needs within the organization’s service community to better provide patients with appropriate services and ensure the quality of their care.


  2. Conducts learning need assessments and develop educational sessions addressing the identified needs of the community, staff and/or volunteers.


  3. Develops training sessions to help employees and volunteers understand and become more familiar with the goals of language services. 


  4. Conducts conversational Spanish classes.  May identify other languages to provide conversational level classes.

Education and/or Experience  

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, education, community development, or related field required.

Five years of experience in documentation translation (English to Spanish and Spanish to English) required. Three years of supervisory experience required. Experience in planning and facilitating meetings, identifying community needs, working with community leaders and volunteers of diverse backgrounds required.


Five years of experience and knowledge with community service agencies preferred. Knowledge and experience in community organizing. Familiarity with community development principles and tools that strengthen community participation preferred.


Computer Skills          

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Health Care Interpreting Certificate - Minimum of 40 hours of training preferred.
