Description
Kezar Life Sciences (NASDAQ: KZR), a clinical-stage biotechnology company located in South San Francisco, is seeking a university-level intern for the Biology department. This is a paid, project-focused 10-week summer internship reporting to the Associate Director. At the end of the program, the intern will present project findings to the company. Kezar is focused on small molecule drug discovery and development to target immune-mediated diseases and cancer. Kezar’s lead product candidate, KZR-616, a selective inhibitor of the immunoproteasome, is being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of severe autoimmune diseases. KZR-261, Kezar’s first oncology candidate targeting the protein secretion pathway via the Sec61 translocon, is now being studied in a Phase 1 clinical trial in several oncology indications. Project Description The intern will contribute to efforts in target validation and drug candidate characterization to support drug discovery in the immuno-oncology field. The successful candidate will gain research experience in an industry setting and learn about advancing small molecules into the oncology pipeline. Intern Responsibilities Develop and run cell-based assays to characterize drug candidates. Keep complete laboratory documentation. Analyze and present data in team meetings Preferred Qualifications Hands-on laboratory experience. Familiar with common cell biology techniques such as cell culture, flow cytometry, etc. Strong organization, written and communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Pursuing a degree in cell and molecular biology or related area. The intern will be responsible for their own housing and transportation. Kezar Life Sciences is an Equal Opportunity Employer
