Description
Kezar Life Sciences (NASDAQ: KZR), a clinical-stage biotechnology company located in South San Francisco, is seeking a biology intern. This is a paid, project-focused 10-week summer internship reporting to the VP, Biology. At the end of the program, the intern will present the project findings to the company.
Kezar is focused on small molecule drug discovery and development to target immune-mediated diseases and cancer. Kezar's lead product candidate, KZR-616, a selective inhibitor of the immunoproteasome, is being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of severe autoimmune diseases. KZR-261, Kezar's first oncology candidate targeting the protein secretion pathway via the Sec61 translocon, is now being studied in a Phase 1 clinical trial in several oncology indications.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The intern will contribute to efforts in Biomarker assay development and mechanism of action studies to support drug development in the autoimmune and inflammation field. The successful candidate will gain research experience in an industry setting and learn about small molecule drug development.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and run cell-based assays to Biomarker assay development and mechanism of action studies
Review relevant published literature
Draft protocols and record laboratory results
Analyze and present data in team meetings
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Pursuing a degree in Biology or related area for 2+ years
Hands-on laboratory experience in biology, chemistry, etc.
Experience with data analysis and graphing software
Detail oriented and well organized
Great communicator and team player
The intern will be responsible for their own housing and transportation.
