Scope of Position:

Leads the development and execution of Global Supply Management (GSM) Strategic Sourcing strategies, policies, tactics and objectives for assigned complex global commodities that align and are linked with the business units, commercial, supply chain and manufacturing strategies.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute Core Technology and Raw Material strategies for cost reduction, supply assurance, IP protection, risk mitigation and technical advantage
  • Research and communicate with the business, supplier and global market conditions and make sourcing strategy recommendations. Identify lower cost opportunities working with technical and engineering communities both in supply and material selection to reduce costs through supplier, material and utilization efforts.
  • Own and manage the strategic relationships with raw material and core technology suppliers
  • Execute contractual agreements with suppliers globally
  • Participate on steering team with global and strategic supplier for Core Technology
  • Active leader/member of cross functional teams that continue to drive cost reduction, supply assurance and risk mitigation opportunities for all plant locations
  • Develop, maintain and execute shared objectives for raw materials and core technology areas
  • Align Global Supply Management tools and offerings that optimize the business and provide efficiency and effectiveness
  • Identify and select suppliers; create RFI, RFP, RFQ’s (Requests for information, proposal or quote)
  • Leads the development of: negotiation strategies and conducts negotiations with potential and/or current major suppliers to obtain maximum value.
  • Become a subject matter expert for Core Technology sourcing and applicable raw materials

Travel Requirements:

  • 10-15% travel commitment, domestic and international

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • 40+ hours as job requires

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.   BS in Engineering or Technical field highly desired.

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience within manufacturing environment.

Experience in automotive industry

  • IATF Internal or Lead auditor certified and/or VDA Certified

  • Ability to find common ground and obtain cooperation
