Corning’s Glass Technologies segment manufactures chemically strengthened cover glass, such as Gorilla® Glass® for the consumer electronics market and glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.



Be a member of Division Engineering as project engineer for the Melting and Forming groups. Deep understanding of the current technologies and capabilities. Provide design concepts to enhance BOD sheet separation and handling capabilities. Document relevant intellectual property developed. Participate in in-scope rebuilds/expansions in the US. Travel to other division locations to participate in rebuild, expansion or integration activities. Work will be mostly independent. 


Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Develops SME knowledge of equipment, sheet handling process, conveyance systems.

• Designs and/or specifies new equipment or modifies existing equipment to continuously improve process performance.

• Coordinates installation, debugging and initial operation of new equipment and systems.

• Capable of designing new equipment, fixtures, or systems using SolidWorks software.

• Capable of tracking and scheduling projects using Microsoft Project software

• Manage vendors during rebuild

• Develops scope and specifications 

• Provides leadership in problem solving, and technical expertise, to ensure timely resolution of short-term equipment issues, and higher level troubleshooting.

• Selects, evaluates and manages local vendors.

• Facilitates development activities by supporting trials in manufacturing or with equipment design partners

• Adheres to all Environmental, Safety and Health requirements.


Travel Requirements: 50% (domestic and international to Asia, primarily)


Work Experience

• Minimum of 5 years

 • Mechanical Design and Drawing

• Broad manufacturing and engineering experiences

• Vendor, Schedule and Budget management

• Equipment Installation and Startup

• Engineering Specification Development

• Auto CAD

• General Window PC operation including MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-Outlook 



• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree with focus on mechanical engineering

• Ability to learn on the fly

• Perseverance

• Ability to work independently without much direct supervision
