Job Description:
- Responsible for general laboratory and operational support, including providing logistical support for human sample (biospecimen) collection, receipt, intake, outbound shipment and biospecimen life-cycle management, as well as ordering laboratory supplies and managing contents of laboratory freezers.

Organizational Relationships:
- Reports to the [Compliance and Sample Manager]
- Interacts with Groton Precision Medicine laboratory team and clinical sample submitters
- Interfaces with other Clinical Genetics & Biospecimen (CGB) colleagues, Clinical Pharmacogenomics (PGx) and Clinical Biomarkers Technology (CBT) laboratory scientists, cross-functional partners and/or bioanalytical team on biospecimen management
Job Requirements:Primary Duties:
- Support the receipt, login, and management of biospecimens, and troubleshoot errors in the submission process
- Upload and manage information in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Support the destruction of biospecimens, including communication and documentation
- Support the maintenance of freezers/fridges and the supplies within, including routine thawing of freezers and organization of content
- Review/edit vendor Scope of Work (SOW), lab manual, Specimen Management Plan (SpMP), sample collection guidelines and other pertinent forms pertaining to the work engaged by the lab
- Coordinate sample shipments with external Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and partners
- Arrange domestic and international shipments from the Groton site on behalf of the labs
- Demonstrate good documentation practices and attention to detail related to the above
- Demonstrate good oral and interpersonal communication as they interact with cross-functional partners and laboratory colleagues
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

- Maintain flexibility and be able to adjust to changing priorities

Training, Education and Experience Preferred:
- Bachelor's, preferably in the biological sciences, with 2-5 years of experience in a field with responsibilities comparable to biological sample collection, handling, and shipping
- Experience working in a biology or chemistry laboratory
- Familiarity with Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP) preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, think critically, prioritize tasks, have good organization skills
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, Power Point
- Exceptional attention to detail, verbal/written communication and organizational/task management skills
