SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Technician - Specialist assists Pharmacists in pharmaceutical preparation, distribution, and record keeping functions in the delivery of pharmaceutical supplies to patients of all ages in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. The PhT Specialist works in a specialized area of Pharmacy (i.e. IV room, Narcotic Vault, or OR setting) and provides advanced knowledge and experience to that area of practice.

ATTRIBUTES
+ Minimum 2 years of pharmacy experience including experience within specialized area of hospital pharmacy and National Pharmacy certification preferred, or 5+ years of pharmacy experience including experience within specialized area of hospital pharmacy including sterile compounding experience
+ IV Compounding experience required
+ Excellent oral, written, and mathematical skills
+ Advanced understanding of hospital pharmacy
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Medication Management.Properly operate the ADMs (Automatic Dispensing Machines); prepack bulk medication and repackage into individual size packaging; prepare all medications in a sterile and clean environment; fill and document patient orders; properly dispose of medication
+ Delivery & Care.Round to floors and deliver medications or pharmaceutical supplies to patients, nursing station or surgery; add measured drugs or nutrients to intravenous (IV) solutions using aseptic technique
+ Computer Utilization.Properly operate EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system; use pharmacy information system to run reports and access medication data; compile and send orders
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSM - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
