Specialist Distribution Operations 




The primary responsibilities of this role, Specialist, Distribution Operations, are to: 


  • Attend and collaborate at Distribution Center’s (DC) operational planning, site planning, continuous improvement, carrier performance, inventory, OS&D, quality and safety meetings, ensuring alignment between 3rd Party Logistics Providers (3PLs) and Bayer;
  • Coordinate special projects (and costs) at DC and track progress. Provide regular project updates to Sr. Manager, Distribution;
  • Monitor CI projects (and savings). Provide regular project updates to Sr. Manager, Distribution. Document and review challenges from the manufacturers as part of CI if applicable. Suggest CI opportunities as appropriate and coordinate the adaptation of best practices after a successful implementation of lean measurements at DC;
  • Demonstrate understanding of DC budget. Perform monthly budget variance analysis and communicate with DC to reduce cost drivers;
  • Demonstrate understanding of warehouse key performance indicators (KPIs) at the DC. Perform monthly KPI variance analysis and coordinate action plan to improve KPI performance as necessary;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of higher level distribution strategy discussions. Communicate gaps in alignment between 3PL and Bayer strategies. Collaborate on future strategic requirements and ways to fulfil them;
  • Ensure DC is compliant with Bayer guidelines and meet local regulatory, quality, safety and security requirements;
  • Actively support Bayer auditors and tours;
  • Trouble shoot SAP issues;
  • Provide business performance updates and forward-looking insight to 3PL.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree with 6 or more years of proven experience OR Master’s degree with 2 years;
  • At least 1 year of experience managing a 3rd party logistics provider (financial / operational / KPI);
  • Significant experience in Supply Chain Management, Warehouse operations and systems;
  • Relationship management skills (diplomacy, negotiating, team player, networking);
  • Target and performance driven attitude with successful track record leading projects.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with continuous improvement programs preferred.
