Position Summary:

The Space Planner will become part of a team that is responsible for the planning and coordination of moves for Workplace Services projects for Corning Incorporated. This position will help coordinate individual and project moves for personnel in the Corning Valley, at varying stages of planning and implementation.

The ideal candidate for this position has exemplary planning and time management skills and can organize data and manage calendars, keeping scheduling operations running smoothly and efficiently. This individual will also be instrumental in coordinating with Corning’s furniture vendor, moving vendor, and other service personnel required for move planning and implementation. The Space Planner will collaborate with Corning’s Senior Corporate Interior Designer, along with other Space Planners, team members in the Workplace Services Team, and the BSD Capital construction team.

 

Key Functions:

Ability to work with Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) software for moves management.

Ability to conceptualize, assess, evaluate, communicate, collaborate, provide customer focused solutions, delegate when necessary, provide situational awareness/project confidentiality, and personal quality management.

 

Essential Functions:

Strategic Process Efficiency

 • Identify, implement and monitor process enhancements for improved effectiveness of organizational resources

• Understand space use and foresee flexibility opportunities for reconfigurations or renovation- document and format comparisons

• Manage special projects as designated and assist other department members as necessary and acts as back up for other members on team

• Provides a bridge for smooth communication; demonstrates leadership to maintain credibility, trust and support with senior management staff Reporting

• Monitor, log and enter moves into software on a monthly basis to expedite billing for rent

• Inform Corning Incorporated’s Senior Corporate Interior Designer of additions, deletions, or substitutions impacting current design/installation timeline or cost during project work

• Document causes of process inefficiencies to improve accuracy In-Progress

• Respond to all requests for information promptly

• Supervise and oversee furniture requirements in Moves, Adds, Changes (MAC) for a functional installation

• Implement and track timing on work requests

• Supervise furniture and move vender for assigned moves Post Project

• Manage design ‘punch list’ process during the installation. Resolve all outstanding items prior to completion. In collaboration with the project team, conduct a ‘walk through’ inspection at the conclusion of the project with the customer and/or their representative(s). From the ‘Final Punch List’, communicate and collaborate with the furniture vendor and moves vendor to resolve any project move items promptly

• Keep on file-“post-mortem” project review information for future comparison

 

Required Experience and Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Minimum 3 years related experience preferably with corporate clientele

• Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point

• Adaptability to shifting priorities; able to work under time deadlines

• Comfortable to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Clear judgment and problem solving abilities
