Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is six (6) months for full-time employees and part-time employees.



As a professional member of an interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker provides a range of direct and indirect services for patient/families including, but not limited to, the identification of psychosocial problems and their resolutions.  In addition, the Social Worker collaborates with the patient/family/team to effect safe and timely discharge/treatment plans. The Social Worker complies with the Mission Statements of Montefiore and Social Services, and the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Work. 


Education, Training, Experience:

  • Masters in Social Work from a school of Social Work from a program registered by the NYS Dept of Education or determined to be substantially equivalent by the commissioner’s regulations.
  • Requires an executed Memorandum of Understanding with a licensed Social Worker for the purposes of supervision, unless licensed as an LMSW or LCSW.
