The Market Research Senior Specialist will be part of the market research team supporting Lynparza Global and the US marketing team in the Oncology CBL.  We are looking for a sharp and ambitious person to join our highly collaborative team. Under guidance from the market research manager, this person will plan, manage, and analyze oncology market research that spans multiple indications like Ovarian, Breast, Prostate and Pancreatic cancers in both pre-launch and post-launch settings. The Senior Specialist is responsible for understanding the team's business issues and opportunities in order to develop analytical and market research solutions for Lynparza and prepare for the launch of multiple indications.

This role will support the AZ-Merck Lynparza alliance. The individual is expected to be an exceptional team player who can comfortably interact with colleagues and management from both organizations. This individual will collaborate and coordinate efforts with existing team of market researchers working on Lynparza (at AZ) and who also can comfortably partner with extended oncology team members including marketing, promotions, commercial analytics and centers of excellence. The individual should also be able to pro-actively identify business opportunities for both Lynparza and the Oncology Franchise.

The person would have demonstrated consistently strong leadership skills with an ability to self-start in a rapidly changing environment with a transformational mindset, cultural awareness, and resiliency enabling him/her to effectively produce results for commercial excellence.  

Primary activities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Under the guidance of the senior market researchers on the team, manages an assigned portion of the market research studies and timelines for all aspects for Lynparza with a strategic mindset.
  • Knows how to design a research project that delivers actionable insights to support business questions and can identify the best methodology for the purpose
  • A compelling storyteller who is able to socialize the key research findings across different teams to ensure everyone truly understands the physician perspective and the rapidly evolving treatment landscape with multiple competitors
  • Manages all aspects of regular reports and gain deep understanding of changes in awareness, behaviors, and physician attitudes and insights on marketing efforts
  • Holds market research agencies accountable to deliver strategic business insights and most importantly, work in a compliant manner
  • Seeks out alternative/creative ways of meeting an information need, considering new techniques to address business challenges.
  • Working with senior market research members, facilitates discussion with Marketing/Commercial Teams to ensure that market research insights are pulled-through in decision-making and planning; 
  • Manages competing priorities and demands from within a product team/franchise applying best practices and innovative techniques maximize value and actionable output.
  • Work on and lead adhoc franchise wide initiatives and/or projects as needed.
  • Leveraging Syndicated reports and secondary data across the Oncology Franchise



  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area
  • Preferred: MBA in Marketing

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of primary market research methodologies
  • Understanding of how to turn customer insights and market data into actionable findings for internal business groups that can elevate business performance
  • Minimum of 2 years of past marketing commercial roles (sales, marketing, market research, promotions) 

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in Market research
  • Experience in Oncology
  • Experience working in the Pharma space.
  • Experience in the synthesis and presentation of Data Audits and Secondary Resources is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of the Oncology disease area highly desirable but not a requirement
  • Prior Physician Research experience highly desirable.
  • Experience working in an alliance setting is a plus.
