ABOUT GREENLIGHT

At GreenLight we are working to solve two of the world's greatest problems: global food insecurity and equal access to vaccines and the associated health benefits. Unlike most corporations who can be required to put profits ahead of other principles, GreenLight is one of the first Public Benefit Corporations to be publicly traded and have a charter that requires a focus on how it benefits its employees, community and society and has a broad portfolio addressing key issues in plant health and human health (Nasdaq: GRNA) by leveraging the full potential of dsRNA and mRNA. The GreenLight team is over 300 people across our headquarters in Medford, MA, an R&D facility in Woburn, MA and an R&D facility in Research Triangle Park, NC. GreenLight also has a biomanufacturing plant in Rochester, NY. Initiatives include finding ways to support biodiversity, protect bees and other pollinators, treat rare diseases as well as develop vaccines.

At GreenLight, we believe inclusion is the way forward. We celebrate the power of working together to address humanity's challenges, meet the needs of underserved populations, and push the boundaries of scientific discovery. Fueled by our aspiration for a true sense of belonging, our talented teams embody the principles of diversity and equality as we strive to bring food security, medicine, and healthcare to everyone-paving the way for a sustainable future. POSITION

GreenLight Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to help advance the company's vaccine research and translational team in the specific area of structural biology for antigen and antibody design. A deep background in protein structure, protein design and analysis and protein characterization techniques is required. Knowledge of vaccine antigen design, antibody structural studies and antigen epitope characterization is desirable. Strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced R&D environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work on design and structural characterization of vaccine antigens and therapeutic antibodies for mRNA-based vaccines for prophylactic and therapeutic applications
  • Implement relevant instrumentations/techniques and computational modeling of protein structures as a tool for antigen design, characterization and selection.
  • Design, characterize and select vaccine antigen candidates based on optimal expression, physicochemical stability, and epitope presentation (that would contribute to desired immunogenicity outcomes in in vivo model systems)
  • Design experimental platforms for mid and high throughput screening of antigens and antibodies libraries coming from predictive modeling and additional machine learnings.
  • Work independently and in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams as a subject matter expert on protein structure and computational biology

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in protein biochemistry, structural biology, protein engineering or relevant field with a minimum of three years of relevant academic or industrial experience.
  • Experience working on protein structure analysis, x-ray crystallography, cryo-EM and NMR.
  • Experience working on structure of protein-antibodies, viral fusion proteins, and viral protein interaction with receptors is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of vaccine translation and immunology is preferred.
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills are required, with the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative internal and external work environment.
