Senior Scientist, Protein Science - Molecular Biology

Immunitas: the human approach to oncology

Position Summary
Immunitas is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic scientist with experience in molecular biology with protein isolation and characterization background. The successful candidate will join the Protein Science team and will be primarily responsible for designing and generating optimal DNA constructs to make proteins and cell lines, assisting in protein production and characterization, in support of our therapeutic programs. As an integral member of our growing research team, this individual will also work closely with Biology and Protein Science teams to help further advance our discovery efforts and develop our platform technologies.

We are developing targeted therapeutics for patients with challenging, complex cancers. We employ a single cell sequencing platform to dissect the biology of immune cells in human tumors and identify novel, exciting oncology targets. We are currently advancing multiple programs toward early human studies.

We are a small, vibrant team looking for scientists who:
  • want to see the direct impact of their work
  • are proactive and thoughtful
  • get things done
  • work well in a close environment at a rapid pace
  • bring "can-do" problem solving to work every day
Responsibilities will include:
·Design, register and maintain plasmid and protein designs in ELN
·Scale-up and purify plasmids for use in downstream applications
·Supporting expression, purification, and characterization of proteins
·Work cross functionally to support Protein Science and Biology teams
·Support collaborative efforts for structural protein projects
·Maintain records, prepare reports, make presentations to update multi-functional project teams and leadership
·Contribute to group goals through collaboration, shared expertise and exchange of ideas

·Experience with molecular biology techniques such as cloning, PCR, Gibson assembly, DNA purification is required
·Experience with protein purification and analytical characterization is required (AKTA, HPLC)
·Experience with antibody discovery, bispecifics, cytokine fusion proteins, or other multi-functional formats is preferred
·Experience with mammalian cell culturing techniques is required (HEK293, CHO)
·Experience working with electronic notebook registry is required, experience with Benchling is preferred
·Experience with in silico molecular modeling and protein visualization software to understand structure-function and engineer ligand binding proteins, is strongly desired
·Ability to work independently, design, execute, interpret, and troubleshoot experiments
·Excellent verbal and written communication, strong organizational and interpersonal skills
