Senior Research Associate, Downstream Process Development

Position Summary

Establish Affinia as a leader in AAV process development through the application of processes, procedures and technologies for best-in-class manufacturing platforms. This position reports to the Associate Director, Process Development and will dedicate efforts downstream process development activities to establish state of the art AAV processes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and execute experiments related to development, optimization, scale-up, and characterization in viral vector purification processes
  • Hands-on experience with purification unit operations including harvest, clarification/filtration, chromatography, TFF, etc
  • Apply DOE and other advanced statistical techniques to design experiments
  • Review technical documents, including study protocols, study reports, batch records, SOPs, etc. to ensure process readiness for in-house and CDMO production activities
  • Contribute in a team-oriented environment to achieve common project goals
Minimum Qualifications

  • BS. with 2+ years' Industry experience, or Master's degree with 0+ years' Industry experience. A degree in biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, biochemistry or related.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Process development experience for gene therapies/biologics is highly preferred including a solid understanding of fundamentals of process development
  • Experience in bench-scale, pilot-scale, and/or production-scale biomanufacturing.
  • Excellent organization, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven troubleshooting, technical writing, problem solving and investigational skills
