Purpose
Develops the overarching strategy and identity for the Novo Nordisk product portfolio in order to optimize profitable access. Leads and drives the strategic direction for short-term and long-term market access strategies for all inline and pipeline products across all channels. Develops access strategy to address identified changes and trends in market access landscape, drive innovation, increase customer engagement, and manage portfolio priorities and resources. Oversees evidence generation initiatives as they relate to market access. Manages development and performance for team of direct reports.

Relationships
Reports to Vice President, Market Access Strategy & Innovation. Interacts frequently in collaboration with internal management and senior level managed markets customer representatives. Interacts internally with team representatives from Finance, Brands, Medical Affairs, Health Economics & Outcome Research (HEOR), Commercial Pipeline, Field Sales, Account Management, Analytics, Investor Relations, colleagues in the Market Access Strategy & Innovation group, and all others, including global colleagues/counterparts, on a routine basis. Close relationships with Global Market Access, the Global Project Teams (GPT) and Core Commercialization Teams (CCT) for launch brands are required. Interacts with Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI) Executive Team as well as senior management at the global level. External relationships include interactions with key managed markets payers, associations, key opinion leaders (KOLs), various vendors and consultants. Manages 5-8 direct reports.

Essential Functions
Develops the overarching strategy and identity for all inline and pipeline products and ensures cross-functional support for strategic direction. Oversees development of the portfolio strategy, with respect to both value communication and contracting, in order to achieve short-term and long-term business objectives. Oversees Strategy & Portfolio Innovation team efforts to identify and execute on commercial innovation initiatives. Oversees Strategy & Portfolio Innovation team actions to identify customer partnership opportunities at portfolio and franchise levels, as well as via unbranded initiatives. Oversees evidence generation initiatives as they relate to market access. Oversees team efforts to monitor and assess the US market access environment to identify trends and policy changes, including but not limited to changes in healthcare policy, government healthcare programs, managed care, payment models, comparative effectiveness, customer engagement, and coverage and reimbursement. Oversees the Market Access Strategy & Innovation group’s strategic planning process and internal initiatives. Ensures alignment of access strategy within the Strategy & Portfolio Innovation group, across franchises and within the Market Access Strategy & Innovation group. Collaborates closely with Market Access Strategy & Innovation colleagues to exchange insights on key market access changes, trends and opportunities for innovation. Ensures access strategies are aligned with portfolio/brand segment positioning and messaging, and with Novo Nordisk’s long-term goals. Ensures that the Strategy & Portfolio Innovation team generates the necessary deliverables to educate, guide and/or train the relevant internal and external functions on key trends and insights, innovation initiatives, and long-term access strategy. Collaborates closely with Global Market Access, the Global Project Teams (GPT) and Core Commercialization Teams (CCT) to communicate US access insights. Uses industry, reimbursement, and disease area expertise to provide strategic direction and planning in ways that reveal new opportunities, potential threats and mitigating actions. Recognizes opportunities and conceptualizes initiatives to drive innovation in market access strategies, processes, programs, and/or engagement models. Ensures that customer engagement programs, innovation test programs, and similar initiatives are aligned with access strategies and meet pre- determined business objectives. Develops and maintains relationships with key customer executives. Develops and oversees implementation of key metrics. Regularly reviews current program progress to accomplish goals. Adheres to administrative policies and procedures and encourages others to do the same. Contributes to practices that attract and retain the best people.

Qualifications

* A Bachelor's Degree in Business or equivalent experience. MBA or another advanced degree required. Relevant experience may be substituted for degree, when appropriate
* A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in any of the following areas: pricing, contracting, managed markets within payer marketing, national account management, patient reimbursement services, consulting, payer marketing, market access strategy and/or contract operations
* A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
* A minimum of seven (7) years of leadership experience in any of the above areas, with demonstrated results in innovation and change management. Creative and entrepreneurial thinking is required
* Strong understanding of the US payer environment, payer market dynamics, payer marketing principles and how managed care organizations make decisions across private & public channels
* Have strong interpersonal; communication; analytical and project management skills. Ability to translate strategies into measurable tactical programs that have high Return on Investment (ROI)
* Requires leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate a vision and engage both direct reports and internal partners in that vision
