Senior Associate Scientist - E3 Ligase Biology Live

What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role you will be part of Amgen's Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) team focused on tackling the undruggable genome through Targeted Protein Degradation. The scientist will assist in broadening our understanding of E3 ubiquitin ligases towards the development of next generation therapeutics like PROTACs and molecular GLUEs. These approaches will be applied to tackling challenging targets in diverse therapeutic areas, such as Cardiovascular biology and Immuno-Oncology.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design, perform, and analyze experiments to understand E3 ligase activity in various systems and tissues
  • Develop innovative platforms and modalities using engineered cell lines and activity-based probes against a variety of substrate proteins
  • Inform decision making for PROTAC and GLUE design
  • Gain experience in setting project goals and timelines, interacting with team members across different departments and research sites, and communicating and presenting data to diverse audiences.
  • Contribute to the scientific community through conference presentations and impactful publications

Basic Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree or
  • Master's degree and 4 years of relevant scientific experience or
  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of relevant scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Broad knowledge of cell and molecular biology with demonstrated independent research eminence through first author publications in top journals
  • Prior experience with biochemical, biophysical, molecular and cellular techniques, including enzyme and cell assay development, generation of stable cell lines using lentivirus, protein degradation, ubiquitination, characterization of protein modification and mechanistic studies of enzymes
  • Sample preparation for mass spectrometry
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work in teams to achieve changing project goals and meet timelines
  • Strong data analysis, interpret complex data sets and critical thinking skills
