Scientist/Senior Scientist, Biology

Job Description

Foghorn Therapeutics is seeking an innovative, motivated, and collaborative Scientist/Senior Scientist to join our biology group. The goals of the group are to deliver candidate drugs that target the chromatin regulatory system, characterize their mechanisms of action, and conduct translational research that directly informs and shapes clinical trial design.

The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of cancer pathways and technical fluency with a variety of cell and chemical biology techniques. The candidate should have a track record of defining the critical questions and designing and delivering impactful studies to answer these questions, along with excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute as a key biologist on both early stage and clinical stage programs, closely collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, and presenting findings to project teams
  • Execute in the lab and conduct translational research to inform disease expansion opportunities, patient selection strategies, biomarker identification, and combination strategies
  • Elucidate compound mechanism of action through a variety of molecular and cell-based approaches, including collaborating with computational biologists to generate and analyze integrated NGS datasets (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq)
  • Manage external CRO relationships by directing experiments that support oncology drug discovery

Qualifications

  • PhD in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, or related field with 0-4 years of post-doc or industry experience
  • Proven track record of research accomplishments through high quality publications
  • Extensive experience in cell biology and hands-on experience with a range of cellular techniques (e.g., Western blot, qPCR, viral vector systems, CRISPR, shRNA, flow cytometry, HiBit) is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work across functions and engage external stakeholders. Commitment to collaborative teamwork is a must
  • Background in the field of cancer biology and the development of small molecule oncology therapeutics is desirable
  • Experience in cancer genetics, epigenetics, transcription, cell cycle, or DNA damage response is strongly preferred
