Summary

LifeMine Therapeutics is seeking a scientist to develop pathways and innovative processes for chemoenzymatic synthesis of natural products and derivatives in support of the core research behind LifeMine's genomically-enabled drug discovery platform. The successful candidate will have a strong background studying enzymes and exploiting biosynthetic pathways for production of novel molecules, as well as experience in the field of synthetic biology.

Responsibilities

• Construct and screen libraries of enzyme variants to identify novel or improved activity
• Develop assays for in-vitro chemoenzymatic synthesis of natural products or key intermediates
• Develop biocatalytic routes for production of small molecules at laboratory and industrial scale
• Collaborate with a diverse and interdisciplinary R&D group and communicate research ideas and results effectively

Job Requirements

• Master's degree with 2 years industry experience or PhD in the fields of biosynthesis, enzymology, biocatalysis, synthetic biology or other relevant field
• Expertise in reaction kinetics and characterization of novel enzyme function
• Hands-on experience with protein production from E. coli and/or yeast host strains
• Knowledge of current best practices and literature in the field of biocatalysis
• Experience of biocatalysis in an industrial setting preferred
• Background in filamentous fungi preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• A sense of adventure and excitement to help build a new company and work in a highly dynamic team environment.
