SummaryLifeMine Therapeutics is seeking a scientist to develop pathways and innovative processes for chemoenzymatic synthesis of natural products and derivatives in support of the core research behind LifeMine's genomically-enabled drug discovery platform. The successful candidate will have a strong background studying enzymes and exploiting biosynthetic pathways for production of novel molecules, as well as experience in the field of synthetic biology.
Responsibilities• Construct and screen libraries of enzyme variants to identify novel or improved activity
• Develop assays for in-vitro chemoenzymatic synthesis of natural products or key intermediates
• Develop biocatalytic routes for production of small molecules at laboratory and industrial scale
• Collaborate with a diverse and interdisciplinary R&D group and communicate research ideas and results effectively
Job Requirements• Master's degree with 2 years industry experience or PhD in the fields of biosynthesis, enzymology, biocatalysis, synthetic biology or other relevant field
• Expertise in reaction kinetics and characterization of novel enzyme function
• Hands-on experience with protein production from
E. coli and/or yeast host strains
• Knowledge of current best practices and literature in the field of biocatalysis
• Experience of biocatalysis in an industrial setting preferred
• Background in filamentous fungi preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
