Description
Scientist, Structural Biology & Crystallography Location : Boston, MA Monte Rosa Therapeutics is seeking a passionate structural biologist with experience in crystallography and cryo-EM. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team responsible for the structural elucidation of multi-protein complexes with novel small molecule glue-based degraders to support Monte Rosa’s growing pipeline. The successful candidate will have proven expertise in performing crystallization studies and determination of structures. The candidate should exhibit excellent communication and collaborative skills for working on cross-functional teams, as well as demonstrate a high degree of independence and organization. Principal duties and Responsibilities: The candidate will be an integral member of project teams and will be expected to perform structure analysis and design the best structural biology strategy. Design constructs for protein expression, participate trouble shoot for protein production Establish protocols to characterize target proteins for small molecule/protein binding. Perform protein crystallography, including initial screening, crystal quality optimization, data collection, structure determination. Establish cryo-EM sample preparation protocols, execute data processing and structure refinement. In charge of organizing and maintaining internal protein structure deposit for the projects. Provide detailed structure analysis in regular team updates and willing to participate in facilitating structure-guided drug design effort. Requirements: PhD in structural biology or 1-2 years of relevant postdoctoral experience in structural biology with a strong publication track record showing innovation and scientific excellence. In-depth knowledge and extensive hands-on-experience with protein crystallography and structure determination, using both molecular replacement and de novo phasing techniques, and refinement. Demonstrated competencies in genes-to-structure, different expression systems, and protein purification. Experience with multi-protein complexes and structure-guided drug discovery is a plus. Extensive experience in crystallization techniques, co-crystallization, seeding, cross-seeding, soaking, harvesting, and freezing. Extensive experience with crystallography and cryo-EM software, including data processing, visualization, and deposition. Experience with automated instrumentation for liquid handling and crystallization. Familiarity with cryo-EM data collection to structure determination. Flexibility to accommodate rapidly changing priorities and deadlines Additional desired qualifications: knowledge of drug discover, Experience in biophysics, specifically with DSF, MST, SPR and ITC. Experience with cryo-EM is definitely a plus. We are looking forward to receiving your application at or via email sent to At Monte Rosa we are taking a rational approach to targeting disease-causing proteins for degradation by means of molecular glue degraders (MGD). Protein degradation as a therapeutic modality can markedly extend the target space, allowing us to attack proteins with a strong link to human disease that were previously deemed undruggable. Our team combines deep knowledge and outstanding skills in the areas of chemistry, structural and cell biology, computational modeling and translational science to deliver pioneering degrader therapeutics for cancer and other diseases.
