We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Process Analytics Development group supporting the commercialization of diverse therapeutic protein candidates in the biologics pipeline. The individual will provide analytical support to in-process testing for process development and commercialization activities and also participate in related in-process method development and qualification for pipeline and in-line biologics programs.  The individual should have relevant training and experience in general analytical techniques (e.g. HPLC, UPLC, UV spectrophotometry, ELISA, Glycan analysis etc). 


The position will be responsible for technical documentation (e.g. electronic notebooks, testing methods, technical reports, etc.) according to Merck's standard practices. It also requires close collaboration with different functional areas (e.g. upstream, purification, technical operations etc.) within Biologics Process Development and Commercialization (BPDC). 


Qualifications

Education: 

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Analytical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or related field with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant industry experience with a Bachelors Degree or a minimum of one (1) year of relevant industry experience with a Masters Degree or higher.

Required: 

  • In-depth technical knowledge and expertise in the characterization of biological molecules. 
  • Experience with HPLC and/or UPLC method development and qualification.

Preferred: 

  • Working knowledge of statistical methods for DOE design and data analysis (e.g., JMP or Design Expert software), statistical process control (SPC), multivariate analysis (MVA), and/or process analytical technologies (PAT) techniques for biologics processes 
  • Working understanding of US/EU regulatory requirements. (e.g. comparability, method transfer).
  • Working knowledge of cGMPs.
  • Working knowledge of mass spectrometry.
