Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We wantall ofour people to go beyond what is possible. We aren't constrained by typical end rails, and we aren't out to just "treat" people. We're all in this for something more. We're driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

How you will Achieve More with Intellia:

As a Scientist, Disease Biology, you will be joining a company where we are applying CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and gene therapy technologies for therapeutic benefit. You will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and executing in vitro assays in support of our drug discovery activities, in both hepatic and extrahepatic settings. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Lead cross-functional, disease-focused project teams from initiation to DC stage

  • Communicate effectively within a functional team and across a matrixed organization

  • Develop in vitro assays to interrogate biological processes and test novel therapeutics

  • Perform cell culture with rodent, primate, and human primary cells and cell lines

  • Deliver high-quality data to help advance drug discovery projects in the therapeutic portfolio

  • Analyze and interpret data, and troubleshoot experiments

  • Generate new therapeutic hypotheses leveraging CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing

  • Oversee junior scientists on the team

About You:

We are looking for an experienced Scientist, with prior experience developing cell-based and biochemical assays for mechanistic characterization of therapeutic targets and drug candidates. Our ideal candidate must exhibit strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills, eagerness to learn about new disease areas and techniques, and motivation to lead a cross-functional team in delivering reliable scientific data in a timely manner. Creativity and intellectual curiosity are essential to the role, as is the ability to generate new therapeutic ideas and to distill complicated concepts into easy-to-understand and testable hypotheses. Additional role requirements include:

  • MS degree in biology or a related discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. degree with 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Prior experience supervising and developing junior scientific staff

  • Ability to work and think independently and to contribute as a part of a highly matrixed team

  • Experience leading a diverse project team to successfully achieve objectives

  • Cell culture, including with primary human cell types

  • qPCR/ddPCR, Western blotting, ELISA

  • Bioassay development, optimization, and validation

  • Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 technology

  • Knowledge of inherited diseases of the liver, nervous system, bone marrow, and/or muscle

Meet your future team:

The Disease Biology team is a group of bright, fun, and team-first individuals. Your future hiring manager is the Vice President, Disease Biology. Having spent nearly 6 years with Intellia, the hiring manager is very knowledgeable on the company's history and mission. Your future team is a group of dedicated individuals, driven to change patients' lives. As we build our team, we're excited to work with people who share our commitment and energy to making a difference.

The team is currently working mostly onsite. Therefore, we hope you are currently local to Cambridge, MA, or open to relocating. While much of the day-to-day operations require wet-lab work, our team is focused on building not just technical expertise but fostering an environment for the growth of scientists interested in a career in therapeutic biotechnology. If you join our team, you can expect to join a fast, exciting, and collaborative environment. We look forward to fostering your skills, learning from your experiences, and building a larger team together.
