Join Takeda as a Research Principal Scientist where you will support innovative preclinical oncology programs across immunomodulation, adaptive immunity, and small molecule inhibitor strategies. You will lead a team to develop studies that identify preclinical mechanisms of action, pharmacodynamic markers, and predictive biomarker signatures through tissue-based testing and image analysis.. As part of the Precision & Translational Medicine group, you will report to Darrell Borger, Director of Translational Sciences.

How you will contribute:
  • Embed within program teams to help shape investigative strategies and serve as a subject matter expert on histology/tissue-based testing.
  • Provide an important role in developing a continuum between preclinical testing and clinical trial evaluation through the development of clinically-relevant biomarkers and testing strategies that serve to improve patient benefit.
  • Work within our Cold-To-Hot program teams to develop investigative strategies that serve to identify key mechanistic and translational questions throughout preclinical stages of drug development.
  • Lead a team of 3-5 laboratory scientists in the development of tissue-based assays (IHC,RNA ISH, mIF), execution of investigational studies, and data analysis through image informatics (HALO software).
  • Manage the development of innovative tissue-based testing platforms with technology collaborators.
  • Work with our clinical biomarker and companion diagnostics teams to provide a strategy of further developing our research use only assays toward clinical tests.
  • Design, implement, and delver research testing that identify mechanism of action, pharmacodynamic markers, and biodistribution signatures.
  • Present results in an interactive format that facilitates discussion and planning of future development directions.
  • Work with human preclinical modelling groups and use human biorepository specimens to conduct leading experiments that identify translational biomarkers for clinical implementation.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • PhD, or internationally recognized equivalent degree, in a medical/biological science.
  • 6 years experience in an academic or pharmaceutical setting.
  • Demonstrated research expertise through past/ongoing grant support, first/last-authored manuscript publications in cancer biology, and/or invited scientific presentations.
  • Knowledge of cancer biology and its relationship to treatment effects and strategies.
  • Working knowledge of tissue-based testing platforms (IHC, RNA ISH, mIF).
