Description
Leads, organizes and manages the activities of the biostatistics group in support of various research projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Supervises a group of biostatisticians including junior managers.
+ Responsible for hiring, providing ongoing feedback, performance appraisals, professional development and recognition of staff.
+ Meets regularly with research investigators to check on project needs and staff performance.
+ Meets regularly one-on-one with individual staff.
+ Assigns biostatisticians specific job duties.
+ Provides high level expertise in study design and statistical planning, in data analysis and interpretation, and in statistical reporting.
+ Work as a high-level biostatistician on research projects.
+ May write and/or guides other biostatisticians to write portions of grant proposals, abstracts, and manuscripts.
+ Create and maintain quality control standards and operational procedures.
+ Planning/setting goals for the group and facilitate group meetings.
+ Perform other related duties as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
Minimum eight (8) years of advanced data analysis experience in analyzing medical or health research data using statistical package(s).
Minimum four (4) years of statistical consulting experience in healthcare or medical research areas.
Minimum four (4) years of leadership experience.
Education
Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, or a related field of study with at least two (2) years of coursework in statistics or biostatistics.
License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:
Ability to organize and manipulate large datasets.
Ability to express complex statistical concepts and technical information to researchers.
Ability to write and guide other biostatisticians to write statistical methods and sample size/power considerations for grant proposals.
Project management experience in a research environment.
Demonstrated exceptional analytic and critical thinking skills, writing skills, communication skills and consulting skills.
Demonstrated supervisory or leadership skills.
Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience with SAS programming language.
Ph.D. in biostatistics, statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, or a related field of study with at least two (2) years of coursework in statistics or biostatistics.
