The Mitsiades lab ( works on cutting edge projects searching for new treatments for prostate and breast cancer by targeting steroid receptor signaling. The Mitsiades lab collaborates extensively with several other research groups, both locally and nationally. The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine is a pioneer in the field of gene regulation, steroid receptors and their transcriptional coactivators, providing a rich scientific environment with many unique and unparalleled opportunities for collaborative research.

Job Purpose

Performs responsible research work that requires planning, completing, and occasionally supervising limited research projects in accordance with general plans approved by the supervisor.

Job Responsibilities
  • Designs and conducts research experiments.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents and interprets results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
  • May develop and modify computer programs.
  • Selects and determines appropriate research procedures.
  • Oversees the maintenance of lab equipment and environment.
  • May assign activities to less experienced research staff.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
  • Required: Two years of relevant experience.
  • None required.
