Job Summary

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the CHOP/HUP Center for Lymphatic Imaging and Interventions to study the pathophysiology of the lymphatic system in heart failure. This project will involve collaboration with the CHOP/HUP Center for Lymphatic Imaging and Interventions co-director Dr. Yoav Dori, and the center’s research laboratory director Dr. Muz Zviman.

 

The work involves measuring physiological parameters and imaging the vascular system including lymphatic vessels in a large animal model of heart failure. These include measuring lymphatic flows, lymphatic pressures, cardiac catheterization with flow and pressure measurements and imaging, as well as cardiac and lymphatic catheterization and minimally invasive procedures. Successful candidates should have a recent Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, and background in either cardiovascular physiology or heart failure.

The work will be done in the research laboratory of the CHOP/HUP center for Lymphatic Imaging and Intervention that includes a large animal interventional lab and access to an MRI scanner, a fluoroscopy suite, and other imaging modalities. The lab also has facilities for small animal research and cellular work, and a well equipped workshop to support innovative technology development.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Conduct independent scholarly research and develop new methods and protocols
  2. Participate in project planning, recording and evaluation of data
  3. Acquire technical, lab management and grant writing skills
  4. Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions and presentation at national meetings
  5. Supervise junior lab members
  6. Assist with other research projects

Required Education and Experience

  • A terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM, etc.
  • According to the CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) a copy of diploma or transcript is required as proof of academic achievement for all non-laboratory personnel performing non-waived POC testing

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

•PhD in Physiology or related field proficient in cardiovascular physiology

•MD proficient in cardiovascular physiology

•An established track record (as evidenced by publications in peer-viewed journals) in research

Additional Technical Requirements

Experience with cardiovascular physiology research; setting and operating physiological measurement equipment; ability to work with large animal models; a strong research record; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively.

Optional skills: Experience with heart failure; experience with large animal surgery; experience with cardiovascular catheterization;
