The Rehabilitation Technician performs general, non-technical duties to assist in the administration of physical, occupational and speech therapy.  Assists therapist/therapist assistant in positioning, lifting, transferring, transporting and treating patients.  All duties assigned are under the discretion and direct supervision of the therapist/therapist assistant in accordance with the State of Illinois Therapy Practice Acts.



  1. Transports patients to therapy area and prepares patients and equipment for treatments, e.g., hydrotherapy.  Prepares treatment areas for patients. 


  2. Provides general assistance to the therapist/therapist assistant(s) with involved patients as directed, which may include exercises with non-involved extremities, general conditioning exercises, assistance with gait and transfers, and assistance with pulsatile lavage setup or dressing changes.


  3. Provides modality treatments to patients with set up under the discretion and direct supervision of a therapist, such as hot/cold packs, ultrasound, and paraffin.


  4. Assists in the care and maintenance of department equipment (cleans, disinfects, repairs) inventories supplies, performs routine maintenance checks, performs housekeeping tasks (keeps work areas clean) and opens/closes department.


  5. Performs clerical duties such as maintaining statistics, entering patient charges, filing, copying and answering telephones.

Education and/or Experience                                                              

High School diploma or GED.


Ssix months of previous patient care experience preferred.


Computer Skills                                                          

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word).
