YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Regional Account Executive – Health Plans and Pharmacy Benefit Managers – East are to:

 

  • Execute Customer Strategy and Regional Business expertise;
  • Deliver and maintain profitable access, advantageous policy, and appropriate reimbursement for Bayer products at Regional customer accounts through commercialization of launch products and life cycle management of portfolio;
  • Create innovative business opportunities to drive profitable short and long term customer partnerships;
  • Provide deep insight into customer enterprise, policy, benefit, clinical evaluation, and legislation impact to the customer and the regional market;
  • Take ownership of the customer organization and Regional market;
  • Be accountable to drive outcomes and flawless execution of the developed plan;
  • Navigate into the payer/Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM), manage executive engagements, foster customer touch points within Pharmacy, Medical, policy, and reimbursement;
  • Drive payer access across regional Payers through alignment of National PBM wins
  • Develop enduring relationships with Key Regional Executive Customers;
  • Effectively use Medical/Health Economics Outcomes Research (HEOR), Brand Teams and Business Units (BUs), to optimize customer opportunities;
  • Provide customer resource through knowledge of Bayer relevant therapeutic areas and market trends that are current, intensive data analytics for category performance, and field level Key Opinion Leader (KOL) knowledge of product real world use and trending treatment algorithms for best in class account resource;
  • Identify and monitor new or evolving market dynamics and impact to customer systems and provide input internally for prioritizing coverage for optimal access;
  • Act as the regional point and manage strategy across the organization through Coordination and alignment of Key Account Managers, Field Reimbursement Managers, Field Sales Directors, Regional Sales Managers, and Integrated Health System Regional Directors while working with payer marketing, channel leads, and Contracting Ability to remove silos within Bayer to accomplish customer strategy;
  • Secure access and deliver profitable outcomes;
  • Meet departmental and brand expectations inclusive of stretch goals through appropriate resource management and strategic innovative thinking;
  • Drive innovation through novel and best in class approaches;
  • Understand the long term impact based on market dynamics now and in the future, and facilitate strategy and plan implementation to produce long term profitable access while meeting short term key brand performance metrics;
  • Value creation for accounts by identifying gaps, trends, opportunities for credibility.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Ten plus (10)+ years related work experience in the pharmaceutical industry;
  • Three plus (3)+ years Managed Markets experience;
  • Three plus (3)+ years’ experience in a supervisory role, or position leading a team or teams through influence;
  • Has in-depth understanding of how Payer and PBM businesses operate and generate revenue nationally and within the market;
  • Identifies future policies, practices and trends with Payers and PBM’s and with competition in the marketplace;
  • Consistently applies a business driver and marketplace focus when prioritizing actions with Payers and PBM’s and cross functionally within Bayer;
  • Sees the big picture, constantly imagines future scenarios, and creates strategies to sustain competitive advantage for Bayer products;
  • Is a visionary with Payers and PBMs and able to articulate credible scenarios and visions of possibilities with clear actionable plans;
  • Formulates a clear strategy and maps aggressive steps that will accelerate the organization toward meeting its strategic goals;
  • Ability to collaborate with regional Payers to strategically apply business practices and aligned strategies that will enable both organizations to meet business objectives;
  • Ability to move beyond the traditional ways of doing things; pushes the status quo;
  • Continually assesses the market potential of innovative ideas and solutions, and builds strong business cases for the customer and Bayer to support the initiative;
  • Tries multiple, varied approaches to innovate ideas with key stakeholders;
  • Gains the confidence and trust of Customer and Bayer stakeholders;
  • Ability to communicate in a credible and transparent manner (Verbal, written);
  • Exemplary follow up to all stakeholders, maintains accountability;

  • Serves as a strategic partner to build, grow, and maintain profitable long-lasting relationships with the regional Payer and PBM;
  • Delivers value for Bayer brands, pull through formulary access for national PBMs;
  • Models collaboration across Bayer and the customer with indirect leadership;
  • Facilitates dialogue and strategy of a wide variety of stakeholders;
  • Promotes high visibility of shared contributions to goals;
  • Aligns stakeholders for common strategy, gains buy in, sets clear goals;
  • Tackles tough assignments – finds solutions with vigor;
  • Promotes a sense of urgency, establishing and upholding individual accountability, producing profitable outcomes;
  • Always keeps the end in sight; puts in extra effort to meet deadlines and persists in the face of challenges and setbacks;
  • Makes sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems;

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • M.B.A. degree;
  • Experience executing market access strategies for PBM and Payer accounts, and exposure to contract development and negotiations for same.
