Job Summary

The Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DCAPBS) is seeking a  part-time psychologist Tuesday, Wednesday and one other day of the week with expertise in early childhood assessment to work in Neonatal Follow-Up through the Division of Neonatology, Department of Pediatrics at Virtua Hospital, Voorhees, NJ. more hours may be possible if someone has the right experience and interest. 

The role of the Psychologist is to carry out psychological and developmental assessment of infants and young children enrolled through Neonatal Follow-Up Programs and to provide support for the families of these children.

The role includes performing assessments, providing appropriate feedback, giving support and advice to families seen through the program regarding developmental, behavioral and other concerns, and preparing reports for parents, community agencies/schools, and healthcare colleagues documenting findings, impressions, diagnoses and recommendations.

Consistent with the mission of CHOP, the psychologist will have opportunities to participate in training of future healthcare providers, including future psychologists through the hospital’s APA-accredited Pre-Doctoral Psychology Internship as well as opportunities to work with psychology practicum students from area universities. Psychologists at CHOP are eligible to apply for faculty appointment through the Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania.

Job Responsibilities

Clinical Activity

  • Provides comprehensive assessment and treatment services to children and families, in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, and communicates with referral sources as indicated.
  • Performs clinical services at a percent of effort as designated by supervisor.
  • Adheres to The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences productivity standards.
  • In settings where patients are scheduled into appointments, presents an EPIC schedule that rolls out six (6) months in advance delineating availability and anticipated vacation and conference time.  Schedule must include enough openings to cover productivity expectations plus anticipated late cancellations/no shows.
  • Assures that professional practice is in accordance with applicable professional and licensing body standards.
  • Follows all CHOP and Departmental policies and procedures regarding clinical and administrative activity associated with providing direct patient care.



  • Collaborates within the Department and with other Department/Division colleagues to assure that patients receive the kind of care required by patient circumstance.
  • Responds to requests for consultation and service in a timely manner.
  • Participates in The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and CHOP committees.
  • Works collaboratively with the program’s intake coordinators and practice manager to assure there is sufficient scheduling availability and patients are scheduled appropriately.



  • Regularly supervises trainees (including externs, interns, and/or fellows) within the department’s psychologist training programs.
  • Lectures and provides training to other disciplines (including child psychiatry).
  • Develops and monitors training modules.
  • Participates in activities of the training faculty.



  • Completes all mandatory education requirements, annual PPD testing, flu vaccine and other vaccinations as per CHOP policy.
  • Establishes plans for professional growth with supervisor.
  • Participates in clinical program development.
  • Provides leadership through participation in one or more DCAPBS or CHOP Committees.
  • Presents work locally or regionally; publishes at least one paper/chapter every two years.
  • Participates in community service.
  • Participates in ongoing professional practice evaluations as a clinician and peer reviewer.


Valid NJ & PA license is required at the time of hire

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA)


Required Experience:

  • Two or more years as a licensed clinical psychologist
  • APA or CPA accredited internship training
  • Completed post-doctoral training in child and adolescent focused psychology
