Description Summary

This position is responsible for project delivery including planning, directing, and coordinating activities of designated projects, including the initiation, design, development, implementation and project close while ensuring business needs are fully met and project objectives are aligned with the company’s strategic direction and goals.  This individual will be required to lead virtual teams across the organization and drive for results within tight deadlines.  Leveraging leadership skills, communication and the ability to influence, the incumbent will model best practices and actively engage in the coaching, mentoring, and training of other project managers within the Stella Transformation Office.


Accountabilities

  1. Understand the strategy and future direction of Stella, as well as challenges and opportunities that are inherent to that strategy and direction.  Ensure that the objectives and priorities of the project or program are aligned with the company’s strategic direction.

  2. Manages the activities of individuals representing multiple business areas to achieve results in a matrixed organizational structure, managing across the organization to achieve project objectives.

  3. Drives business decision making process to ensure capabilities, systems and processes meet expectations and that alternate approaches are vetted and explored.

  4. Partners with leaders and stakeholders to drive the resolution of business issues, shape emerging business opportunities and requirements and help the business effectively manage change. 

  5. Manages the development of both business solutions and application solutions, focusing on both the business implications of technology and the impact of technology on the business.

  6. Leads full delivery life cycle to ensure that projects have sufficient planning, governance, resource management, financial stewardship, change management and risk mitigation structures in place.

  7. Mentors and coaches other project managers and project coordinators in the areas of professional conduct, project management methodology, the use of project management tools, interpersonal skills and navigation of the project intake and feasibility process, change control and delivery processes. 

  8. Creates compelling, succinct presentations and executive summaries, as well presents to broad range of audiences, including senior leaders.

  9. Partners with vendors as needed to integrate vendor solutions into enterprise projects. 

  10. Documents and implements repeatable project management processes and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

  11. Performs other accountabilities as assigned.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business and 5 years of related experience, i.e. experience working on or leading projects in a health care setting or in a setting requiring these same skills and ability, or 9 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Demonstrated track record of achievement with ability to identify and exceed customer expectations.

  • Excellent continuous quality improvement and/or project management skills.

  • Must have a high level of intellectual curiosity and openness to change.

  • Strong conflict resolution, facilitation and negotiation skills, capable of adapting the approach as needed.

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.

  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills, able to anticipate, identify and eliminate problems.

  • Proven ability to collect and analyze feedback and data, and transform findings into project-level strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with little to no direction and make decisions as needed. 

  • Occasional travel may be required.


Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s degree in business or a related field.

  • Knowledge of team leadership.

  • Knowledge of change management principles and practices.
