We are currently looking for a full time Program Director and Chair for the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The Program Director and Chair serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and reports directly to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. This is a non-tenure position.
Responsibilities of the position include:

Program Director
  • Oversees the development, coordination, compliance, and oversight of the Physician Assistant Program in accordance with ARC-PA and Sullivan University standards.
  • Sits on the Executive Committee of the SU COPHS and assigned committees per the Bylaws.
  • Provides oversight and coordination of the admission process for the Physician Assistant Program.
  • Participates in annual review and revision, if indicated, of the mission statement and goals of the program
  • Provides oversight and coordination of the admissions process for the Physician Assistant Program.
  • Some didactic teaching is required.
Chair, Department of Physician Assistant Studies
  • Implements the curriculum, including assignment of teaching responsibilities, respective to the PA Program.
  • Serves as the liaison between the Dean and Executive Committee of the College and the PA program faculty.
  • Provides leadership and mentorship for the program faculty as defined by the Dean. This includes reviewing faculty examination questions and lectures, faculty evaluations of course teaching on a quarterly basis, course evaluations and action plans in conjunction with course coordinators on a quarterly basis.
  • Provides opportunity for, and assists each member of the faculty in, achieving optimal professional development in teaching, research, scholarship, and professional service.
  • Directly supervises the Medical Director and Administrative Assistants to include hiring, training, development, motivation, and performance management.
  • Maintains an open-door policy and all faculty should feel free to discuss any concerns regarding their positions and the College as needed.
  • Conducts monthly PA program faculty meetings.
  • Recruits and retains faculty. Serves as the Chair of the faculty Search Committee or appoints designee and is responsible for interviewing all faculty candidates.
  • Meets regularly with community partners to expand clinical sites for students and collaborate for enhanced education of students.
  • Manages budget for the program.
  • Participates in community and professional/association activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the position include:
  • Minimum of a master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • Minimum of three years of full-time higher education experience at the time of appointment.
  • Eligible for PA licensure in the state of Kentucky.
  • Must hold current or emeritus NCCPA certification status
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication problem-solving, and customer service skills required.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently while meeting required deadlines.
  • Proficient with the use of standard office applications and education management platforms on personal computers.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with students, faculty, and staff face to face and via electronic communication.
