Production Specialist, Packaging - 2nd Shift 




The primary responsibilities of this role, Production Specialist, Packaging – 2nd Shift, are to: 


  • Assist area supervision with assignments;
  • Act as supervisor in absence of department supervision;
  • Support overtime needs as required for supervision support; 
  • Handle direct reporting responsibilities in limited capacity for supervisory development purposes.  This may include, but not limited to, investigating employee relations issues, completing PMPs, and issuing corrective action or employee development plans;
  • Act as delegate for authorizing payroll records and timesheets for fulltime employees and contract labor personnel;  
  • Review completed packaging orders/BMR/EBR’s for accuracy;
  • Train personnel regarding accuracy of department related documentation;
  • Identify department training needs for automated manufacturing and inventory systems (i.e. SAP, MES, etc.) as needed, and assist in developing and implementing training plans; 
  • Allocate department resources (i.e., labor allocation, scheduling) on a daily basis to ensure production targets are met;
  • Investigate and resolve schedule attainment issues with supporting departments.  Initiate Initial Event Investigation (IEI) reports and complete assigned deviations where applicable;
  • Review in-process records and quality assurance test results using SAP and release orders as required;
  • Support all shifts in regard to issues involving inventory adjustments, procedural duties, cycle counts;
  • Maintain department reports, ie Shift Reports, Open Reservation Report, Negative Inventory Report, LX03, TR/TO, and Schedule Attainment Report where applicable and/or assigned;
  • Backup Administrative Assistant in the packaging/manufacturing office as needed (i.e. Log Books, Bin Tickets, Error Reports, Schedule Attainment Reports, Payroll Records, etc.);
  • Perform other duties as assigned including working alternate shift and minimal travel for training or site visits.

Required Qualifications:


  • High School diploma or GED; 
  • If no degree, incumbent is encouraged to start and/or continue college education program and to actively participate in his/her development in preparation for exempt supervisory role;
  • 3+ years of experience or a combination of experience at a government regulated production facility, supply chain environment;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required with all levels of staff and management. Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate technical information in writing;
  • Strong mathematical skills to verify computations on reports and statements, identifies errors and inconsistencies, and bring to attention of the Department supervisor/QA;
  • Excellent Personal Computer skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines;
  • Ability to be self-motivated and take initiative, as well as, to work collaboratively in a team-based environment;
  • Manage multiple priorities and balance workload from several supervisors and Director Manufacturing; 
  • Ability to maintain confidential records and employee relations;
  • Previous leadership experience. 


    Preferred Qualifications:


  • College Degree;
  • Supervisory experience;
  • Technical production experience;
  • Experience using Microsoft office software required; SAP/MES experience;
  • An understanding of US Pharmaceutical Industry Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and other Safety/Security practices.  Willingness to certify as a First Responder.
