Product Stewardship Manager - Regulatory Science 




The primary responsibilities of this role, Product Stewardship and Sustainability Manager, are to: 


  • Provides guidance and transparency to North America (US and Canada) and global on the implementation of stewardship initiatives in alignment with the company priorities;
  • Advise the Stakeholder Relations and Issues Management Teams on development of strategic stewardship initiatives and acting as a technical advisor for the Bayer Crop Science (BCS) Asset Management Teams with regard to specific stewardship requirements;
  • Ensure the monitoring and documentation of defined stewardship measures at country level;
  • Provides effective oversight of product complaints and incidents with support of the Bayer Stewardship Community;
  • Promote and train local stewardship managers to use the CAIRnew – Complaints and Adverse Incident Reporting Database;
  • Anticipates potential stewardship issues to address them pro-actively and develop stewardship approaches that help maintain our freedom to operate;
  • Communicate to internal and external stakeholders about stewardship initiatives and achievements at regional level;
  • Represent Bayer actively in regional industry associations.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological and Agricultural Science plus 10 years with a Crop Science related industry or;
  • Master’s Degree (MS) plus 8 years with a Crop Science related industry or; Ph.D. plus 6 years of experience with a Crop Science related industry;
  • Experience in technical / stewardship / environmental-human risk issues and state/federal regulatory policies and procedures;
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, to build relationships with internal BCS network, external regulatory agencies, commodity crop groups, industry trade associations, and other stakeholders to leverage BCS interests
  • A high level of diplomatic, scientific and technical expertise;
  • Effective communication, persuasiveness and cross-functional team player skills on a high level, as well as a strategic view;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and strong negotiating skills;
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities, develop and implement
  • action plans, capably, manage issues and lead cross-functional teams is essential;
  • Excellent in leadership, communication and strong intercultural skills, excellent networking; effective interaction with a variety of cultures and global, regional and local functions;
  • Experience in leading cross functional teams or communities; project management expertise; solid knowledge in agronomy, plant protection business, regulatory policy; fluent in English.
