Scope of Position: Corning’s Gorilla Glass for auto glazing business is poised for growth. This role will drive Auto Glazing product roadmap and prioritization for Corning, including collecting critical customers (OEMs, Roof-makers and Glazers) valued current and future product attributes and managing product specs. A key focus will be to ensure we deploy and clearly communicate capabilities to capture business opportunities through high level of quality execution. This product engineering manager will be the centerpiece for how to respond to new customer product requests and technical issues; including coordination with the product development and manufacturing organizations to determine appropriate response.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities: • Reviews all customer requirements (RFI; RFQs; Customer Specs; etc…) and either sends formal response or coordinates inputs from subject matter experts and ensures prompt response to customer • Leads response plans for customer issues/data requests • Supports account teams to provide standard training modules to customers • Generates technical white papers in support of marketing and communication initiatives Key Deliverables: • Develop attribute and product roadmap and prioritization • Develop a spec management system o Define the Auto Glazing product capability and gap with customer requirements o Develop a spec/attribute platform between internal capability/external requirements • Develop comprehensive competitor attribute benchmarking

 

Required Years and Area of Experience: • BS/MS in material science, mechanical engineering, optics, applied physics, or related field • Minimum 5 years of experience working with product design, engineering, or quality in manufacturing or innovation program

 

Required Skills: • Ability to work in a matrixed organization leveraging external and internal division resources to meet individual objectives • Able to communicate complex problems to audiences with a wide range of technical expertise including executive level both internally and externally • Technical report writing skills • High level of technical rigor

 

Desired Skills: • Ability to work effectively across a complex, global organization, and get things done, including to partnering externally to drive results • Well organized, process oriented with systematic approach to problem solving, including problem definition, decision/ recommendations and supporting logic/data • Knowledge of automotive, especially the Glazing industry • Experience with glass materials and/or glazing processes and operations • Able to work effectively and productively both as a teammate and independently

 

Travel Requirements: > 25% including global

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40+
