Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Lead project teams to improve existing processes or develop new products and processes.
  • Activities include:
    • Defining the plan to meet objectives, including technology strategy, costs, resources and risk analyses.
    • Monitoring progress to plan and budget, with periodic reporting out to program leadership and stakeholders.
    • Lead team to down select manufacturing options based on the technical fundamentals, performance and manufacturing cost criteria
    • Drive efficient and effective problem solving and capability demonstration using theoretical, empirical and modeling approaches
    • Build and maintain internal and external contacts relevant to facilitating technical project leadership in target corporate areas.
  • Projects involved with:
    • Projects could support any Corning division or new business potentially including external vendors and contracts
    • New processes/products that include managing innovation and uncertainty in the delivery to market.
    • Advance capability through delivery of robust technical solutions based on understanding of manufacturing technology and application of engineering and material science fundamentals.

Required Education:

  • Minimum BS engineering or material science
  • Advanced degrees strong required preferred

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • 15+ years experience (spanning multiple stages of innovation) preferred
  • Track record transferring new products/process into manufacturing

Required Skills:

  • Lead cross functional/interdisciplinary teams to provide integrated solutions
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including ability to clearly summarize for company leadership.
  • Strong background in engineering and/or material technical fundamentals

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Corning processes and business systems
  • Experiences and accomplishments spanning from early stage innovation to late stage manufacturing across multiple Corning business units
  • Experience with tools to manage risk for new products and technology (ex., Innovation Black Belt IBB)
  • Knowledge of modeling capability and how to leverage modeling tools

  • Interpersonal skills – engaging, enabling, open.
  • Integrate well into new businesses/teams as project change

Travel Requirements:

  • Significant domestic and international travel required
