Process Engineering CoOp 




The primary responsibilities of this role, Process Engineering Intern, are to: 


  • Assist project manager/process engineer on specific technical and/or project management tasks in support of ongoing Process Technology Department (PTD) projects; 
  • Provide solution to technical problems associated with biologics manufacturing processes at commercial and/or development scale. This may involve application of basic and advanced engineering techniques and procedures with oversight by senior staff members;
  • Perform data gathering, analysis (in Excel/Matlab/JMP etc.) and reporting with support from senior staff members; 
  • Collaborate with team members within E&T and other site groups such as Manufacturing Sciences, Plant Engineering, Operations, Biologics Development etc.;  
  • Communicate findings to relevant stakeholders and document results in technical reports;
  • Perform literature review of internal and external reports/ articles to extract relevant information;
  • The Intern will have an opportunity to apply his/her technical training in an industrial (Pharma/biotech) environment and become familiar with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s).

Required Qualifications:


  • Junior or Senior undergraduate/Bachelor-level student or 1st/2nd Master’s level student in Engineering with a preferred focus or interest in Biologics/Biotechnology; 
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited University; 
  • Must be available for the Summer/ Fall Co-Op session;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to deal professionally with internal customers of various organizational levels;
  • Ability to work effectively within the team and cross-functionally;
  • Good organization, documentation, prioritization and scheduling skills together with an overall desire to learn;
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to manage a complex technical project;
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task;
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office with beginner level proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or familiarity with other programming languages and interest in process modeling is a plus.
