Process Engineer:

Erwin New York

Corning is one of the world’s leading innovators in materials science. For more than 160 years, Corning has applied its unparalleled expertise in specialty glass, ceramics, and optical physics to develop products that have created new industries and transformed people’s lives.

Corning succeeds through sustained investment in R&D, a unique combination of material and process innovation, and close collaboration with customers to solve tough technology challenges.

Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Scope of Position:

The position is for a Process Engineer in the Corning Environmental Technologies division.  The responsibilities will include setting up and validating production inspection equipment, define setting through experimentation and statistics, and generally support quality and manufacturing with new products and new measurement equipment.  Support manufacturing improvement initiatives, including variability reduction, defect reduction, process control improvement, Six Sigma. Corning Environmental Technologies is a division that produces engine after-treatment products, such as catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters.  These products are being used to clean the air, reducing the amount of soot and harsh chemicals released into our environment.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Typically the candidate will have multiple projects and will need to balance activities and time.  The candidate will be responsible for developing experiments, and working with the plants and lab owners to execute the experiments.  The candidate will be responsible for traveling to integrator and manufacturing plant sites to support validations and installations.  The candidate will be part of a larger team and will be required to deliver communications on the status of the project, as well as deliver to the scope of the project.  The candidate will need to use statistics and six sigma tools to evaluate systems and recommend direction.  Process Engineers need to have an ownership role in the projects and need to work with many other teams to deliver an overall successful production process.

Travel Requirements: Some travel should be expected, dependent on project assignments.  International travel will be required. Typical travel requirement is 25% to 50% or less.
