Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a collaborative and dynamic group of Merck discovery scientists focused on advancing effective therapeutics into the clinic in the areas of immune oncology and inflammation.  The postdoc will conceive, design, plan, and implement experiments focused on discovering the function of novel immunomodulatory molecules, and will have access to state-of-the-art resources that will facilitate completion of the project.  
This position will be located initially at MRL Palo Alto, CA, and transition to our new MRL South San Francisco, CA location in early 2019.
Project goals include but are not limited to:
  • Identifying molecular interactions, cellular localization, signaling, and function of novel immunomodulatory molecules using molecular and cell biology techniques
  • Elucidating the biological functions of immunoregulatory molecules through the use of in vitro assays, in vivo disease models, and KO mice

Education Minimum Requirement:  
  • PhD in Immunology or related field with less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience, or expected completion of degree by Spring/Summer of 2018

Required Experience and Skills: 
  • Molecular and cellular biology skill set with demonstrated ability to elucidate signaling pathways and molecular interactions 
  • In depth knowledge of immunology and immunoregulatory pathways
  • Strong publication record, good written and oral communication skills, self-motivated

Preferred Experience and Skills: 
  • Experience with in vivo tumor and/or inflammation models, or willingness to learn
  • Multiparameter flow cytometry
  • Confocal microscopy
