Position Overview: 

As a postdoctoral fellow in Protein Sciences Antibody Engineering group based in Palo Alto, CA, you will work with a highly collaborative team of scientists that will combine rational-based protein engineering with structural and computational methods. This objective of this work will be to develop a technology platform that will enable optimization of next generation antibody therapeutics. 
  
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, construction, mammalian expression, and purification  of antibody molecules, antibody mutants, and antibody fragments
  • Conduct physicochemical experiments on antibodies using a variety of techniques (e.g. SEC, DSC, AC-SINS)
  • Collaborating with Merck and external scientists in structural, modeling, and molecular dynamics to validate models
  • Data interpretation, manuscript preparation, publication and presentation of results
  • Contribute to a safe and compliant laboratory work environment

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:   
  • PhD with less than 3 years of Postdoctoral Experience or achieved a Ph.D. by Spring/Summer of  2018 
 
Required Experience and Skills: 
  • Experience with molecular biology, construct design, protein expression and purification, and analytical characterization of proteins 
  • Homology modeling and molecular dynamics
  • Ability to design, execute and communicate complex experiments in the field of computational biology, biophysics, and/or protein engineering
  • Must have strong organizational skills to deal with large amounts of data
  • Must be independent, self-motivated, and rigorous scientific logic
Preferred Experience and Skills: 
  • Experience with automation (e.g. TECAN) and HPLC systems
  • Structural biology experience
  • Programming or scripting experience
